We've answered our most frequently asked questions below, but if there's anything else you want to know or you just want to have a chat, just get in touch through the contact form, email us at:
So how does it all work?
Simple. Just get in touch and we'll customise a menu and a drinks list to suit you, your venue, your party and your budget. The best way to arrange great hospitality is to talk through what you'd like and how you'd like it. We have many years experience in a wide variety of events so can advise and guide you along the way.
What area do you cover?
We cover the whole of the Yorkshire and Lancashire regions.
Do you provide staff?
Absolutely. We'll staff based on requirements and budget.
Is there a recommended number of guests the bars are suitable for?
There is no minimum number of guests required but ideally we look to cater for parties of around 100 guests or more. If you’re planning something a little smaller, do still get in touch.
What about a license to serve alcohol?
A Temporary Events Notice (TEN) is required if you'd like a cash bar, however we sort this out on your behalf and the cost is included in the hire fee so you don’t need to worry about it.
Can you pay with cards or are the bars cash only?
We take payments on both bars with cards, cash or Apple Pay, so your guests don't need to worry about running out of cash.
How much space do you need for the bar?
Not much at all! For Mrs Miggins we need an area roughly 3 metres x 3 metres, outside or inside.
Do you need a power and water supply?
We just a regular 240 volt supply (this is the standard UK mains supply, so any mains socket will work). We can also run from a generator if a mains supply isn’t available (although hire of a generator is not included and we will need to arrange this separately). We don't require a water supply for the bar.
My event is in the middle of the countryside, can you still provide a bar?
Yep! No problem – all we need is a flat area of land around 3 metres x 3 metres for Mrs Miggins. If there isn’t a power supply, we can arrange a generator.
Do you provide glassware?
Absolutely. We provide all the glassware based on numbers for the event. We take all dirty glassware away at the end so there’s no need to wash up!
Is there a minimum spend?
No. There's no minimum spend on drinks, however, once the spend on drinks goes over £1,000, we’ll refund you any deposit.
How much are the drinks to my customers?
We price our drinks competitively, using a similar pricing structure to a standard high street bar - we don't charge 'event prices'.
I'm sold, how do I book?
Just get in touch with us via the contact form, or email firstname.lastname@example.org Once you're happy with everything, we'll take a deposit for the event and then can relax and look forward to enjoying our wonderful hospitality. If you decide to buy your pre-drinks from us we'll need a decent amount of notice, around 3-4 weeks, to check stock levels from suppliers and secure the order.
What happens if I need to cancel or change the date?
If you need to change the date and we have availability that's not a problem, as long as it's outside thirty days of the event as we'll need to apply for another license (known as a TEN) for the new date. The deposit will carry forward. We can't refund deposits for a cancellation as costs will have already been incurred and the dates blocked out.
Is Mrs Miggins suitable for weddings?
Absolutely. Mrs Miggins was designed with weddings in mind, she is the perfect solution if your wedding venue doesn’t have a bar, i.e if you’re having a marquee, barn or festival wedding. She provides a fantastic backdrop to your day too and a great photo opportunity for you and your guests.
What drinks can we choose from?
We have a recommended list of craft beers (Including gluten free), cider, quality wines and fizz (including natural, organic and biodynamic). Just get in touch and we'll be happy to send it over to you. These are tried and tested, and we’re confident that they’ll be perfect for any event. If you’re looking for something different or special, that’s also not a problem – we can source almost anything for you. Just let us know what you’d like and we’ll come back to you with a price.
What is Mrs Miggins made from?
So good! Mrs Miggins is beautifully designed using 100yr old reclaimed timber from the floor boards of a house renovation in York. The bar is integral to the van and covers all but the cab of a classic Italian Piaggio Ape. She has five different dispensing taps, twinkly fairy lights and we're happy to add any other decorations you’d like. She brings an abundance of vintage-inspired charm.
